Girls Under Pressure by Jacqueline Wilson

I think this book is realistic because first of all the title is “girls under pressure” and I think most girls are familiar with this words, because they been through it. Magda reminds me of my friend because they are both rich and spends a lot.Īnd the third reason is because I sometimes can relate to this book, although most of them I cannot relate to but some of them are.

Actually, there is one character that reminds me of someone I know which is Magda.

The other characters are ordinary and I don’t hate them nor like them a lot. Although sometimes I don’t like Ellie because she’s too obsessed to be skinny and thin and it irritates me when she doesn’t want to eat good food that are in the restaurants or the ones that are provided by her parents. And Ellie is a nice girl, brave, and good in arts. Although Ellie doesn’t accept what Anna has done for her, but at least Anna has made a contribution to make Ellie eat again. In this book, I like Anna and Ellie because Anna has been really nice and kind to Ellie, even though she’s her stepmother but she cares about Ellie and is supportive when Ellie is going to a diet by giving her healthy foods so she still can eat, but doesn’t add a lot of calories. The second reason why I like this book is because the characters are not perfect, they are made realistic so they can match teenager’s daily live so it makes it more interesting. Sometimes I get frustrated to because why doesn’t Ellie want to eat even though her friends said she lost lots of weight, but she still wants to be thinner. And I dislike chapter 8 because the atmosphere of the story wasn’t really great, everyone was not really happy at that time, and it’s sad to know they are all not happy because of Ellie. I like the last chapter (chapter 10) because it’s great to know that Ellie stop from her crazy diet and I was always curious about what’s going to happen to Zoë, since she’s described really thin so I want to know if she is really anorexic. One of the factors are the chapters are enjoyable to read and not boring at all. In my opinion, this book is very interesting and there are reasons why I think this book is interesting. Besides her, her two best friends (Magda and Nadine) are also under pressured because of their appearances or how their family treats them. She goes on this crazy diet but at the end she stop doing it after seeing her anorexic friend in the hospital.
